
Watermouth Harbour is situated on the North Devon coast just to the east of Ilfracombe and less than 30 minutes’ drive north of Barnstaple. The Harbour is considered to be one of the most stunning locations on this coastline and has kept its status due to its seaside heritage, spectacular views and local amenities including the wonderful South West Coastal Path which is particularly popular with families.
The harbour provides a most convenient base for exploring the unspoilt North Devon coastline with its wide range of anchorages and harbours including Lynmouth, Clovelly, Ilfracombe and Lundy Island.
The Bristol Channel is also open for the more adventurous with landing places such as the Isles of Scilly, Southern Ireland and many destinations along the Welsh coast.
This beautiful natural harbour covers almost 15 acres and provides a safe and secure anchorage with moorings for 120 boats.
Watermouth Harbour has the benefit of it’s own full time Harbour Master, Rob Lake. Follow Rob on social media for all the goings on. All moorings are fore-and-aft and secured by a combination of ground chain and sinkers. Watermouth is a drying harbour so is not suitable for Fin Keel boats.
The Harbour offers annual moorings with winter hardstanding included. Hardstanding space for boats on trailers, accessible to launch, and a storage facility for boats requiring repairs. Watermouth harbour is the ideal location to launch at all states of tide offering daily or yearly launching fee options. There is a trailer park available at a small charge for boats on moorings for convenience of leaving trailers at the harbour. All these options, apart from day launch, include free parking for one vehicle.
Ashore, there are toilet and shower facilities with a useful Chandlery and gift shop. The very well known ‘Storm in a Teacup’ Boat Café is open every day during the season operating from a converted rescue boat and serves breakfast, lunch, delicious cream teas and other treats.
Fiery Sea Horse wood fired pizza oven operates on a Friday night, very popular with the boat owners.
There is also an independently run Yacht Club on site that requires membership.
There is a large friendly community of boat owners at Watermouth Harbour with regular Harbour Events and get togethers organised by the Harbour Master to involve all, including boating & fishing activities, outdoor theatre, BBQ’s and live music.
The picturesque harbour is surrounded by flowers and benches and is a truly magical setting for a mooring or launching day trips.
Visitors are very welcome on the outer visitor moorings which makes a great stop off to explore the magnificent North Devon Coast, booking is essential.
Watermouth Harbour has its own car park operated with an ANPR system and for added security, CCTV is in operation at the harbour.
